Tropicana Community Services was founded in 1980 as a non-profit community organization in Scarborough, Ontario by Jamaican-born Robert Brown and cofounder Derrick McLennon. Their goal was to serve disadvantaged youth and their families, particularly those from a Caribbean, Black, and African heritage. Each year Tropicana’s staff, with the assistance of its dedicated volunteers, is able to help thousands of people in need.
As the world continues to become increasingly digital, the opportunity gap starts even younger. When children don’t have access to devices, they cannot facilitate their learning at home.
Tech4Transformation is a partnership with Tropicana and Green4Good to facilitate getting devices to those in need. Once your device is donated, it gets wiped to factory settings. It is then updated to today’s tech standards by Green4Good and sent to Tropicana for distribution.
