WWF-Canada: More than Wildlife
Over time, our work has expanded from protecting particular wildlife species and habitats to protecting life on Earth – including our own. Today, our work is about supporting a Living Planet, for both people and nature. We create solutions to conservation issues important to Canadians and the world. We work collaboratively with governments, businesses and the public to help fight climate change, the single biggest environmental threat to our planet; conserve our oceans and freshwater resources; and educate and mobilize people to build a conservation culture.
The choices we make decide our future, for everyone and everything around us. Our actions matter. From what we buy to how we get to work, our actions shape human communities and ecosystems around the world. WWF-Canada is a proud participant in the Green4Good program as part of our work in promoting the reduction of pollution and wasteful consumption.
PEOPLE. Canada emits more carbon dioxide per capita than almost any other country in the world. Now is our chance to put Canadian ingenuity and determination to work. Every little thing, like buying a refurbished computer instead of a new one, makes a difference. And our actions at work and at home add up when we work together. Learn more about what you can do to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, take action and connect with others who, like you, are looking for ways to do more at Living Planet Community
CLIMATE. The impacts of our changing climate are the single greatest threat to biodiversity, with effects already evident in the Arctic. Northern communities and species, such as the polar bears, are already at risk. Canada’s global leadership role in the Arctic will be our generation’s single most important legacy to the world.
